Subject: David Boldt Strikes Again Date: Fri, 22 Mar 1996 12:31:41 -0500 (EST) From: Chris Purdom With lightning swift stupidity and intentional obfuscation, the Philadelphia Inquirer's David Boldt yet again attempts to cloud the minds of his readers. In his Friday, March 22 column, Mr. Boldt argues that fear of the Religious Right is fear of religion. "Would you be scared of a group of teenagers walking toward you down the sidewalk if you knew they were coming from Bible study?" he asks. Well, I might, if I thought it was say, Christian Identity Bible Study, or if I was walking with another guy and they'd just been studying Sodom and Gommorah, but reducing the threat of the Religious Right to street-level violence is ridiculous sleight of hand. The threat is in legislation, in School Boards, in military policy, in the judiciary, in hiring practice, and in slightly-veiled encouragement of violence. None of this is news to Mr. Boldt. He knows there are anti-Religious-Right religious groups out there. He reads his own paper, and he's gotten letters from us in the past. The editors (and Mr. Boldt), ought to be hearing from every group and individual who gets this mail. You can do it by email, and it only takes a minute or two. The more letters they get, the more they'll publish.
