Date: Tue, 27 Aug 96 19:36 EDT From: GWinstonJ@aol.com Subject: African-American SGL Spirituality Anthology It's been a little while since I made this announcement, but it ain't over 'til...'til it's over. It seems like I've had more discussions about spirituality in the last month and a half than ever. In that spirit then, I re-announce the Call for Submissions for SPIRITED. As most of you already know, SPIRITED is intended to be a collection of essays and short fiction on the topic of Black Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender spirituality. It will be an affirming work that carries the word of how we have seen our way clear to loving ourselves totally--in the face of whatever Goddess, or God we believe in and/or worship. While I have been receiving a variety of work, I know that there are more stories out there to be told. Again, whether God for you is Allah, Buddha, Sister-mother or the Universe, there is something in your experience that can make one of our brothers and sisters think and say "Just maybe." SPIRITED is intended to be another tool in our striving to once again establish balance among the flesh, mind and spirit so that we may eventually slough off the self-hatred, internalized homophobia, racism and sexism in order to express our power more beautifully and our beauty more powerfully. It's all about spirit and love. Work should be typed (double-spaced). No more than 30 pages, unless necessary. And should be accompanied with an SASE for response. Originals will not be returned. Final decisions will not be made until I have considered all of the submissions; therefore, please be patient. The address for mailing is: G. Winston James 728 Sackett Street, 4R Brooklyn, NY 11217 The new deadline is December 31, 1996. Please Email me with any questions.
