Subject: IRS 990s for SF Catholic Charities & Christian Coalition

dear friends,

just a brief note to inform you that the catholic charities of the s.f.
archdiocese has provided the www.accountabilityproject.com with its most
current i.r.s. 990 form. they charged only $5.50 for copying costs. a
condensed version of it is available now at our web site, thanks to the hands
of mr. rick solomon. please visit our site and educate yourself about this
agency, which reports its largest budget item is for its aids programs. i had
no idea how large the catholic charities aids budget was. i was also unaware
that the agency gets more than 50 per cent of its overall budget from
government grants.

today's mail brought the three most current i.r.s. 990s for the christian
coalition. yes, pat robertson's nonprofit organization sent me his forms, and
for free, no less!
i think i need to remind folks that most agencies get nervous when you ask for
the 990s, so imagine what they must have done when a queer with aids in s.f.
was writing, calling and faxing for the c.c.'s 990s. it took three months of
pressing, but the right wing group finally sent the forms. we should have
them posted by the weekend.

i am proud that our site will soon greatly expand the number of rightwing and
religious groups that file 990 forms. i hope the gay press now begin to
compare gay and aids groups with teh rightwing groups and see how they differ
or are equal. it would also be great if more gays examined the rightwing's
990s.
