This session is aimed at young people working in youth organisations who are involved in religious youth work or lesbian and gay youth work or both. IGLYO is the International Lesbian and Gay Youth Organization. We are a world-wide association of and for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered youth.organisations. In planning this study session we have worked with several International Youth Organisations who are attached to religious faiths. These organisations have contributed to the aims of the seminar and will be sending participants. We also have a preparation team made up of representatives from 4 religious organisations and IGLYO. AIMS The aims of the session are to increase understanding of the issues surrounding religious belief and homosexuality and also examine the views of lesbian and gay young people and their experiences of religion. Whilst studying these complex areas we hope to be able to hold constructive and creative dialogues on issues pertaining to morality, human rights, religious freedoms and also interfaith work - all of these issues will also be linked to youth work and international co-operation. Participants will be recruited from different organisations, sexual orientations, religious beliefs and locations accross Europe. To this end will are asking participants to indicate religious belief and sexual orientations so we can create a balance and ensure a fair representation. METHODS A wide variety of working methods will be used throughout the week giving participants the opportunity to examine the issues in depth and also to be able to debate and discuss in forums which will lead to better understanding. It is hoped also to have a wide variety of information available including articles. books, magazines and videos for use by participants during the week and also for them to take home with them.
