FROM THE INDIANAPOLIS STAR MAY 20, 1992 BOY SCOUTS ANTI-PORN GROUP CALLS FOR BOYCOTT OF LEVIS An anti-pornography group in Jackson, Miss. is calling for a boycott of Levi Strauss & Co; accussing the jean maker of punishing the Boy Scouts for excluding homosexuals. "The fact that they would penalize the Boy Scouts for refusing to accept openly practicing homosexuals as Scout masters shows that they no longer want the buisness of the majority of Americans," said the Rev. Donald Wildmon, who heads the American Family Association. On Friday, Levi Strauss confirmed it will no longer donate to the Scouts because of it's refusal to admit gay Scouts or leaders. Mary Gross, spokeswoman for the SanFrancisco company, said it's donation has ranged from $40,000 to $80,000 a year for five years. Beacause of a policy conflict with the Scouts, Gross said, "We can no longer support them." ******************************************************************************** i have two things to say: 1. I haven't been a "practicing homosexual" since I left the scouts. I have been a well rehearsed and enlightened homosexual ever since though. 2. I think it is about time i stock up on my summer jean supply. Don't you think so?! William M. Schendel
