San Francisco -- Digital Queers, a high tech activist group, will help bring yet another community organization onto the fast lanes of the information superhighway. On Tuesday, September 13, Digital Queers will be holding a benefit to technologically-upgrade the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation/San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (GLAAD/SFBA). The benefit will be from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Delancey Street Town Hall at 600 Embarcadero between Brannan and Townsend Streets. Entertainment will include Morty Okin and his Golden Trumpet and Connie Champagne. A video screening will include segments from Seen Anything Good Lately?, The Straight Agenda and The Gay Agenda (there is a $25.00 minimum suggested contribution). The benefit party has four primary goals: 1) To upgrade GLAAD chapters nationwide so that each has at least one complete workstation, 2) Establish the GLAAD/SFBA chapter as a nationwide communication hub for GLAAD activities including activist alerts, daily news reports, inter-chapter communication, media advocacy and education by building a state of the art electronic publishing system, 3) Provide for the services of a project coordinator to install, train and maintain this network during its formative stages, 4) Establish an active national GLAAD on-line forum. Digital Queers is a national organization of computer technology professionals and aficionados serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community through service, visibility, and professional and social networking. GLAAD is a national nonprofit organization working to improve and defend images and depictions of lesbian, gay and bisexual people in the media and throughout our popular culture. Currently, GLAAD chapters are active in eleven cities across the country, and GLAAD/SFBA is the largest local chapter. # # #
