Since these publications have limited space, articles must be brief, concisely written and informative for practitioners. OutWord The quarterly newsletter of LGAIN is 4-8 pages. Its focus is to facilitate the exchange of information among those interested in lesbian and gay aging issues and provide continuous coverage of developments affecting lesbian and gay elders. AUDIENCE: Readers are members of LGAIN; they include researchers, educators, students, aging service providers, administrators and managers, and gay men and lesbians over 60. DATE OF SUBMISSION: All articles must be received by the dates listed below: ISSUE SUBMISSION DEADLINE Spring March 1 Summer June 15 Fall September 15 Winter December 15 FORMATS AND LENGTH: FEATURE ARTICLES (1000-1500 words): Cover a broad range of subject matter in areas of concern. INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS (750-1000 words): Document programs and services that merit special attention and recognition; intended to supply reades with information on model programs that could be implemented in their locales. PROFILES (1000-1500 words): Personal profiles about gay men and lesbians over 60 or about gerontologists and researchers concerned with lesbian and gay aging issues. BOOK REVIEWS (250-500 words): Brief reviews of recent publications on issues about or affecting lesbian and gay elders. RESEARCH BRIEFS: (250-500 words): Brief reports on new research and information about where to get additional information. These include student research projects. OP/ED (750-1000 words): A combined "letters to the editor" and opinion pieces that offer LGAIN members an opportunity to express their opinons about issues, controversies and concerns related to gay and lesbian aging. RESOURCES (750-1000 words): Annotated listing of new resources on lesbian and gay aging issues. CALENDAR (20-25 words): Announcement of events; should include name of event, sponsoring organization and name and phone number (or address) of contact person. Footnotes: Submissions that require footnotes should follow the Chicago Manual of Style for endnotes. While references are not required, proper citation of any published or proprietary work is expected. Submission: Email me at jacobson@uga.cc.uga.edu for information. AGING TODAY ASA's bi-monthly newspaper is interested in submissions in the area of lesbian and gay aging. The newspaper is read by 13,000 members and subscribers and provides national coverage of developments in research, policy, and practice. Articles are 500-750 words in length. Topics must be newsworthy; that is, either providing a gay and lesbian perspective on a current national debate or spotlighting an innovative new program, product or service.
