Date: Fri, 13 Jan 1995 12:54:30 -0500 From: Patrick Heck Friday, Jan. 13, 1995 Virginians for Justice ACTION ALERT SEX EDUCATION UNDER ATTACK The Virginia House of Delegates today put forth an amendment to House Bill 797 that would allow local public school systems to remove Family Life Education from their curriculum. The amendment was made by Delegate John Watkins (R-Midlothian). VJ opposes all attempts to limit or remove FLE requirements because many young Virginians have no other opportunity to learn about the transmission of sexual diseases or to learn about human sexuality. Please phone 1-800-889-0229 to voice your opposition to the Watkins amendment to HB797. An operator will record a yea or nay, but usually no further comments. The House is expected to vote on HB797 as soon as Monday afternoon, Jan. 16. You must know your Delegate's name or your district number to use the 1-800 number. If you do not know either, check your voter registration card or call your local voter registrar. For more information call VJ at 804-643-4816 or e-mail va4justice@aol.com Please forward to other Virginians and cross-post at will.
