Trikone: Lesbian and Gay South Asians presents Pride Utsav '95 "Affirming our culture, celebrating our sexuality" June 15 - 18, 1995 University of California - San Francisco Mission Center 1855 Folsom St. (at 15th St.) San Francisco, CA Co-sponsored by: (a partial list) Atish - Vancouver Khush - DC MASALA - Boston SALGA - NY SALGA - Philadelphia Sangat - Chicago Shamakami Trikone - Atlanta Trikone - Los Angeles Trikone is now in its 10th year. Since its inception Trikone has been at the forefront of serving the lesbian & gay South Asian community. This year we have taken an even bigger step by organizing Pride Utsav '95, a conference for lesbian and gay South Asians, June 15-18, in San Francisco. Our effort is a continuation of SALGA's first Pride Utsav Conference held in New York City in 1994. We are also inspired by the Khush Gay Men's Conference in Toronto in 1993. The goal of Pride Utsav '95 is to enable lesbians and gay men of South Asian descent to discuss the pressing issues that concern our emerging communities. It is also a chance to celebrate our sexualities together. Urvashi Vaid, former Executive Director of the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force, will be the keynote speaker. Pride Utsav '95 coincides with the annual Pride celebrations in San Francisco, and ends with the Lesbian & Gay Freedom Day Parade, the largest such parade in the world. Conference attendees are welcome to take part in the parade in one way or another, as marchers, or as spectators. While the conference workshop sessions will only be open to those of South Asian descent, other activities will be open to all. South Asia includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tibet. We encourage all our South Asian sisters and brothers to come participate, network, share, discuss, and exchange ideas and concerns. It promises to be an exhilarating experience, so we hope to see you at the conference on June 15-18.
