Among the appearances by Task Force staff will be Executive Director Kerry Lobel's keynote address at UCLA's first ever Lavender Graduation. California Assembly Speaker Pro Tem Sheila Kuehl will offer a special welcome at the ceremony, which is officially recognized by the university. GLBT graduates of UCLA will be honored and will receive a rainbow tassel and a Certificate of Distinction. The Lavender Graduation concept was created in 1995 by Dr. Ronni Sanlo while she was director of the Office of LGBT affairs at the University of Michigan. Sanlo is now head of the UCLA Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Campus Resource Center, which organized the event. In addition to this distinction, Lobel will address Atlanta Pride and will be a featured speaker at the Atlanta Community Centers Awards. There, the Task Force will be presented with the community centers' award for 25 years of service to GLBT community centers throughout the nation, including NGLTF's support in establishing the National Association of Community Centers. The presentation of the award will be made by the boards of both the Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Community Center and the Atlanta Lambda Center.
