His years as a local organizer give him great insight into our work,² said Kerry Lobel, executive director of NGLTF. ³Our members and donors will be well served by his knowledge and experience.² As a California based staff member, Serpe will be responsible for coordinating NGLTF's fundraising efforts in several key western states, including California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and New Mexico. Serpe will also work with NGLTF board members to provide visibility and resources at community meetings, events, and conferences. "I'm excited to join the Task Force during its 25th anniversary year," said Serpe. "I am proud to be able to contribute to an organization that has supported my work as a local and regional organizer for many years." Ralph comes to the Task Force from the Billy DeFrank Lesbian and Gay Community Center in San Jose where he served as Executive Director. He was also a member of the organizing board of the National Association of Lesbian and Gay Community Centers. While at the DeFrank Center, Serpe was responsible for the daily operations of Northern California's largest GLBT community center as well as its media, development, and program areas. Serpe organized the first regional conferences of Southern Oregon and Northern California Lesbian and Gay Community Centers, a region that contains the highest concentration of such centers. In addition, Serpe was a co-coordinator of the National Association of Lesbian and Gay Community Centers "Promote the Vote" campaign, a national voter registration and mobilization project.
