A press conference announcing the filing will take place on the steps of the Miami County Courthouse that day at 1:00 p.m. The measure, proposed by the American Family Political Committee of Florida, seeks to limit civil rights protections for unspecified groups of Florida residents. Although the American Family Political Committee is promoting the measure as one targeted at curbing anti-discrimination laws that protect lesbians and gay men, the phrasing of the initiative -- known as "Laws Related to Discrimination Are Restricted to Certain Classifications" -- makes no specific mention of sexual orientation.
