Box 1281,Ft.Lauderdale, FL 33302 (954) LCR-1995 DANA MANCHESTER NEVER TO BE FORGOTTEN Thursday, February 3, 2000, Ft. Lauderdale. Dana Manchester, one of Florida's brightest entertainers, a shining star at almost any AIDS fundraiser, quitely passed away today with family and friends nearby. It is with a heavy heart that the members and friends of the Broward Log Cabin Club of Florida relate the loss of John Goodwin, fondly known to us as Dana Manchester. "This radiant star was a most caring and loving individual who served our community for too many years for some of us to remember," noted Jack Majeske. "Dana never said no when it came to a worthy cause in a society some suggest is consumed by materialism and indifference. She proved them wrong again and again because she always cared with her heart first," noted Andy Eddy. On September 25, 1999, in a glowing ceremony, Dana Manchester received the Buddy Markwell Memorial Award from Gays United Against Repression and Discrimination (GUARD). The award is given to an individual who has made long and outstanding contributions to the Florida community. A memorial service will be held on Friday evening, February 18th (7:30 PM), at St. Clements RC Church on Andrews Avenue (just south of Oakland Park Blvd.) in Ft. Lauderdale. On February 4th Poverello will highlight its store window in a tribute to Dana. Members of the media will keep the community posted on future updates. --------------------------------------------------------------------- End of Message 3-B ---------------------------------------------------------------------
