Contrary to what you may have been told, there is no guaranteed security in the Democratic party without your activism as guardians of equal rights for minorities. Obviously there must be more inclusion within the Republican Party. Gay women and men and GLBi friends who are fiscally conservative and socially moderate, wishing to halt the ever growing threat of the evangelical supremacist, must not cave in to intense pressure to evacuate the party of Lincoln. We cannot run from a political system and philosophy we believe in as many have run and been driven from religious affiliations they once held sacred. This is the time of year that we can create change within the political arena. If you really care about your personal life and your sexual orientation, whether in or out of the closet, now is the hour to get out and register to run for committee member positions in the party of your choice. In Broward call Mary Cooney at the County Supervisor of Elections office (954) 357- 7064 for information. The time for running away from responsibility is over. The time for honest conviction, accountability and credibility is here. We must answer that call through ethical and moral participation and support. Good government is the responsibility of a good citizenry. We are just that; for we are loving, hard working, caring and loyal Americans with access guaranteed under the Constitution of this great melting-pot society. Therefore, get to work and to the business of inclusion and participation before that right is lost. M. Warren, President Broward Log Cabin Club of Florida cc.media
