Box 1281, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. 33302 (954) 563-3626 WFTL HOMOSEXUAL SUPPORTER OF CHRISTIAN NATIONALIST POLITICAL MOVEMENT WELCOMED TO GAY NEWS BY DEMOCRATIC COLUMNIST STEINSMITH Ft.Lauderdale, Sept. 4, 1996. Columnist Gary Steinsmith, leader of Ft.Lauderdale ACT-UP, Board Member of The Americans for Equality and Dolphin Democratic Club, early Buchman supporter of the Frank-Nunn "Don't Ask - Don't Tell" Clinton Compromise-plus, and recent recipient of the Rev. Grant Ford's 1996 Kangaroo Award welcomed- in his "Positively Speaking" Brad Casey magazine column - alleged Christian Coalition WFTL political commentator "Al Don't Ask - Don't Rantell." Prominent radio personality Neil Rogers, a foe of "Alice Don't Ask- Don't Rantell," frequently finds himself, as do others not as radically conservative, at odds with "Alice" because of his "vine swinging" innuendoes about African-American blacks and attacks against most lesbians tagging them "fem-a-nazis." Broward Log Cabin leaders recently noted that Rantel's "push button" comments about Log Cabin Republican national leader and member of the Massachusetts delegation to the Republican San Diego convention were distasteful. Contrary to Rantel, we do not find Mason ( a long-time grass-root community activist for equality of rights and a Weld appointee ) a "Liberal Fascist" Black American. Jim Rafferty, when questioned about his thoughts on Brad Casey's selection of Rantel, noted "on one hand it's unfortunate that Brad pays his Log Cabin dues suggesting to the community that he is a foe of the Christian Nationalist movement while, on the other, he allows his alleged libertarian emotionalism to over- rule the pain and suffering of imprisoned military-witch-hunt victims Rantel frequently finds air-wave amusing." Dr. Charles, when questioned about Scoop Casey's newly featured column noted "It's a for profit magazine and Brad's known to be humorously flaky at times." Community AIDS activist Andy Eddy calmly replied, "all I can say is that he's exercising his right to freedom of the press. He's attempting to build up readership and circulation by affording a media platform to Rantel.... uhm, he's likely baiting Jason Bell of Hot Spots and Dennis Delia of GUARD, the guys who first gave Scoop his start."
