Carl Thompson, senior vice president for the long-distance carrier, Life-Line, alledges that all gay women and men are in league with the devil." 10% of Life-Line's Corporate profits are utilized for fundamentalist political activist because, according to Thomas the money earned is "God's money.... We are right-wing fundamentalists and proud of it.... We believe the church should rule over the state.... We are here to take over for Jesus." Broward Log Cabin Club of Florida believes in in free speech and freedom of religion but also believes in abiding by the "Golden Rule" and holds dear our Constitution, Bill of Rights and our national pledge "One nation under God with Liberty and Justice for All." Too many radical evangelical fundamentalist utilize Sunday's pulpit not to spread the message of love but one of brimstone, fire and fear. They neither practice nor preach about the Sermon on the Mount. They intentionally turn their backs on the "Two Greatest Commandments" which instructs us "to Love the Creator with our heart and soul and secondly to Love our Neighbors as ourselves." They have rewritten the meaningful Beatitudes when, according to Christians, Jesus said "Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven." We support Lifeline's rights under the Constitution. We support Thompson's right to free speech and freedom of religion. Yet, intelligent people who understand that "We are All God's Children" readily comprehend that "Freedom from Religious Persecution" is a right that no radical can deny any citizen of this great country. It was that beacon of hope which lead so many to the distant shores of this Great Nation, and still does.
