Dianne Feinstein United States Senate Washington, D.C. 20510-0504 Dear Senator Feinstein: Your withdrawal of support for President Clinton's health care reform plan was most disturbing to me, thus I am writing to urge that you strongly support a meaningful health care reform plan during this congressional session. This plan must contain the following elements: Universal coverage by January 1, 1997. Employer contributions of at least 80% of all health care costs. Comprehensive benefits including prescription drugs, preventative care, mental health treatment and at least a start on long term care. Family contributions that are affordable to all persons, including early retirees, the unemployed and low income workers. Real, enforceable cost controls, such as premium limits and fee schedules. Quality care with consumers, not employers, being allowed to select from a wide choice of physicians and plans. A single payer option for states, without unreasonable barriers. I recognize that the specifics of various bills concerning health care are changing daily, but the above provisions are fundamental to any acceptable health care reform legislation. Please support a plan which includes these provisions now. I look forward to hearing your views concerning national health care reform. Very truly yours,
