For 17 years planners and activists have gathered each year to share ideas, network, learn and teach each other about the hundreds of Pride events produced all over the world for the G/L/B/T communities. To empower millions of people each years through our pride celebrations, the IALGPC conference fosters well-structured and fiscally prudent organizations, whether large or small, urban or rural, well established or just beginning. These conferences are designed to give a wide range of insight on skills to effectively produce the best Pride Celebration events you possibly can. Pride events produced by IALGPC members are estimated to have mobilized between 12-15 million people worldwide in 1998. Many of our member's pride events are now listed in the "top ten" of all annual outdoor events (parades & festivals) produced in larger cities. This year's conference is not only for the purpose of providing participants an opportunity to share their common experiences, problems and solutions, but the goal of providing more broadly based skills in the area of producing special events will be key. Additionally, panelists from all levels of government and business who work with special events, whose offices impact special events will be in attendance. We expect members from non-U.S. Pride organizations to attend in record numbers again this year and are working toward encouraging more members of the European Pride Organisers Association, organizations from Mexico, South America and the Pacific Rim to attend this year. To further empower the diversity of your conference experience, CSW is working with our own community's organizations to produce this conference. Members of the Gay Asian Pacific Support Network, United Lesbians of African Heritage, Gay and Lesbians Latinos Unidos, as well as S.A.G.E. and COOL (elder Gays and Lesbians) will be assisting us with the conference.
