GAY PRIDE EVENT INFORMATION ON NEW MEXICO / MAY 25, 1995 *************************************************************************** The following is a repost of information sent to the IAL/GPC. Information is not guaranteed. *************************************************************************** Three pride days are being planned in New Mexico this summer. Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Taos. Pride events in Las Cruces are also rumored to be taking place. Pridefest Albuquerque will be held June 10. The parade will begin at the Common Bond Community Center, 4013 Silver, SE at 10:45. The parade will travel down Central, with police escort, to the Fairgrounds. The festival will be held at the Spanish Village at the Fairgrounds. To be part of the parade, or have a booth at the festival, call Common Bond 266-8041. Pridefest needs volunteers. If you can help, call Andy Najar at 292-1674 or Common Bond. The Taos Human Rights Alliance will host the Taos Gay & Lesbian Pride Day on June 24 at 1 pm in Kit Carson Park, in the center of town. A party at a member's home will follow. The last Taos pride was held two years ago and attracted 250 people. Taos pride organizers suggest several activities for people staying overnight including hiking in the many trails around the Taos Ski Valley, soaking at the Black Rock Hot Springs, rafting on the Rio Grande, exploring the Sand Dunes National Monument about 1.5 hours north of Taos or just absorbing the tranquility of laid-back Taos. For details on Taos Gay & Lesbian Pride call Noel Stone 776-2146. Santa Fe's Pride will be held Sunday, July 9 on the Plaza. For more information, please call 505-989-6672.
