The Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1994 will prohibit job discrimination based on sexual orientation. HRCF hopes that hearings on this bill will take place this year. For those hearings, and for many other purposes, HRCF seeks to compile stories of people who have suffered job discrimination based on sexual orientation. HRCF can use these stories as part of the documents it submits to congressional committees at the hearings. Individuals who suffered job discrimination can speak at events and to the press, and could be called to testify before legislative committees, at the state and local level and in the U.S. Congress. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous will be able to do so. If you have suffered job discrimination based on your sexual orientation, please fill out the following form and e-mail it to "doc.disc@glib.org" or send it to: Sofia Michelakis, Documenting Discrimination, HRCF, P.O. Box 1396, Washington, DC 20013; (202) 628-4160 (voice), 347-5323 (FAX). Please distribute copies to your friends and, if they have suffered this type of discrimina- tion, urge them to fill out the form and send it in. Only by working together can we make sure this type of discrimination is made forever illegal in the United States. Thanks for your help. ***************************************************************** ***************************************************************** DOCUMENTING DISCRIMINATION A PROJECT OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN FUND Anti-gay job discrimination occurs every day in the United States, yet only eight states and a few cities and counties have laws to protect against it. Now members of Congress are considering a federal law to protect lesbian, gay, and bisexual Americans from job discrimination. But we will need your help to enact it. The most important thing you can do to help is to tell us about discrimination you have faced. If you have a true story to tell about being fired, losing a job opportunity or promotion, or facing on-the-job harassment because of your sexual orientation, we need to hear it. Please take a few minutes to fill out and return this form immediately. If your friends also have stories to tell, please copy this form and share it with them or call us for more copies. For more information, please call the Documenting Discrimination Project at the Human Rights Campaign Fund at (202) 628-4160. ***************************************************************** PLEASE PRINT NEATLY NAME _________________________________________________________________ ADDRESS _________________________________________________________________ STATE ________________________________ ZIP___________________________________ PHONE (day) __________________________ (evening) __________________________ FAX (if any) ________________________ E-MAIL (if any) ______________________ Please describe your personal experience(s) of job discrimination based on sexual orientation, providing as much detail as possible.
