"We are extremely pleased that Steve has agreed to lend his considerable talents to our Board," says Victory Fund Co-Chair Nekki Shutt. "As a longtime political activist and founder of our Los Angeles Steering Committee, Steve brings with him a tremendous amount of experience and a proven commitment to the Victory Fund's mission of electing openly gay candidates." An accomplished actor and producer, Steve Tyler is well known for his work in film, television, stage and print media including worldwide exposure as the Kool Cigarette Man, more than 75 television commercials, the film King Pin, and recurring roles on Santa Barbara and Days of Our Lives. His stage work has garnered six Drama-Logue Awards, two NAACP Awards, and numerous community awards. Steve is a boardmember of Access Now for Gay and Lesbian Equality (ANGLE) and a veteran of national and local political campaigns including Clinton/Gore '96, Barbara Boxer for Senate, Dianne Feinstein for Senate, and Sheila Kuehl for Assembly. "I'm totally committed to the empowerment of gay men and lesbians through the political process and I know firsthand that the Victory Fund strategy works," Tyler says. "Victory Fund members have contributed more than $700,000 to qualified openly gay and lesbian candidates in California, and 18 Victory Fund winners now hold office throughout the state."
