TO: Friends DATE: April 5, 1996 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------- Please post everywhere! "PROMOTE THE VOTE CAMPAIGN" SEEKS VOLUNTEERS/PARTICIPANTS The Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Community Services Center would like to invite you to volunteer in a voter registration project. The project is called "Promote the Vote Campaign" with the goal of maximizing the participation of lesbian/gay/bisexual voters in the 1996 Presidential and fall general elections by registering new voters and mobilizing all registered voters. To accomplish this goal, the Gay & Lesbian Center is seeking volunteers in a nonpartisan outreach effort for the 1996 elections. We face the undeniable reality, after the 1994 elections, of both federal and local political landscapes that have left vulnerable our communities all across the country. Through our combined efforts, we will have the capacity to reach, and hopefully result, in the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of voters. Some of the activities that we're planning to do include voter registration through tabling, the mail and through point of purchase boxes, conducting voter pledge drive, mobilizing Get Out the Vote (GOTV) pledgers through phone bankings, door-to-door visits, etc. If you have some time to volunteer or would like to get involved in any way you can, please call the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's Public Policy Dept. at (213) 860-7350 or e-mail us at "gaylesbla@aol.com."
