HIV/AIDS Educators & Activists to Respond to 1st White
  House Conference on AIDS After Live Satellite Viewing

WHAT:     The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center will host a satellite viewing of the
first White House Conference on AIDS and HIV with community members, leaders,
and HIV/AIDS educators and activists, followed by an immediate response.

WHO:  Juan Ledesma, Director of Health Services, L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center,
Ferd Eggan, City AIDS Coordinator, Community Activists and Educators and
People with HIV/AIDS

WHEN:     Wednesday, Dec. 6  RESPONSE: Noon - 12:30 p.m.  CONFERENCE VIEWING:
8:45 - Noon

WHERE:    Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Community Services Center, 1625 N.
Schrader Blvd. (FORMERLY: Hudson Ave.), Hollywood

WHY:      The White House Conference on AIDS/HIV is an historic "summit" of
leaders from the HIV/AIDS community.  Among other things, we are urging the
White House to:

1. Maintain appropriate funding for care and treatment
2. Renew a focus on prevention
3. Renew challenges to the research community to find a cure
4. Oppose attempts to remove government services from people with HIV/AIDS
