GAY MEN

WHAT:   The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) will hold a
cocktail reception in the nation's capital to honor legendary television
personality Phil Donahue for his long-standing commitment to presenting
fair and accurate images of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues
to the American public.

        "GLAAD is thrilled to honor Phil Donahue, the television talk show
pioneer who broke the rules to bring gay issues to America," said William
Waybourn, GLAAD's managing director. "An award-winning journalist, Mr.
Donahue understands the important role media plays in educating the public
about  our lives."

        On the air for 29 years, Donahue netted 20 Emmys.  In 1981, Mr.
Donahue received the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and in 1992,
the 25th Anniversary of Donahue, the National Academy of Television Arts &
Sciences presented him with a Special Recognition Award for "pioneering the
Talk Show" and for his contribution to television journalism.

        Tickets to the cocktail reception are $100 and may be purchased by
