BOLDNESS AND ORIGINALITY - The media outlet should contribute to a fuller or better understanding of issues surrounding sexual orientation and identity. Original perspectives on long-standing issues, innovation in identifying new stories and themes within our community, and breaking new ground by exploring lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender subject matter in fresh, exciting and thoughtful ways are considered. IMPACT - The media outlet should impact its targeted audience as well as resonate significantly with non-community-specific media, as exemplified by trendsetting in news and features. OVERALL QUALITY - The overall quality of the project is taken into consideration. Eligibility: Entries were published, released or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 1998. All nominees considered for these awards were self-submitted. The Media Awards will take place in three ceremonies to be held in New York City on Sunday, March 28 at the New York Hilton Towers, in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 17 at the Century Plaza Hotel and Towers, and in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, May 8 at the JW Marriott.
