In light of the current national political agenda affecting Black Lesbians, Gays and their families, we find it necessary to take immediate actions to protect our communities across the country. The urgency of national and local agendas have fostered a climate where a Summit is in order to educate and organize ourselves around issues impacting Lesbians and Gays of African descent. The Black Gay and Lesbian Leadership Summit: Our Families, Our Communities, Our Lives, to be held on February 16-19, 1995 at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton and Towers will replace the Eighth Annual National Black Lesbian and Gay Conference and Institutes. This Summit, the largest of it's kind, will draw national and international participants from as far away as South Africa. The Summit Schedule will include the following working sessions: -The AIDS and Health Care Symposium -Impact of the November 1994 elections -104th Congress -Republican Contract with America -Attacks on Affirmative Action -Roe v. Wade -Local legislation, i.e. California Proposition 187, "Three Strikes" ruling, and other oppressive agendas aimed at eradicating all gains accomplished in marginal communities.
