Box 1281, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. 33302 (305) 782-1095 "We Are One" AMERICAN FEDERATION OF VETERANS "An Alliance for Equality of Rights" On January 18th, 1996 the Alexander Hamilton American Legion Post #448, in a private, formal and traditional ceremony, honored their Commander Dr. Paul Hardman who recently passed away in a San Francisco area VA Hospital Service Center. Dr. Hardman, the post founder and long-time leader, was eulogized for his life-long dedication to human rights. He shall be particularly remembered for his part in the struggle for equality in defiance of the military ban on gay women and men codified by the U.S. Senate, House and President under the fallacious "Don't Ask - Don't Tell - Don't Pursuit" 1993 compromise. Cliff Anchor another activist dedicated to equality and human rights for all minorities has now been officially installed as the new Post Commander. Commander Anchor, the life-long dedicated "significant half" of the deceased military activist Leonard Matlovitch, asks all U.S. Veterans, Service Personnel and Citizens -regardless of their sexual orientation- to challenge bigotry and subliminal hate and call for the dismemberment of discrimination within this nation and the military which serves us honorably. Commander Anchor announced that: (l) The Alexander Hamilton American Legion Post will have a public memorial service honoring Past Commander, Dr.Paul Hardman, on Saturday, February 3rd from 2 to 4 p.m. in the San Francisco Veterans Memorial Building. (2) That the Alexander Hamilton Hamilton Post #448 is reaching out to all Legionaries who believe in equality and human rights. They invite any Veteran and/or Servicemember to join their ranks so that the struggle to justly honor ALL who have served, are serving, died and defended the beliefs on which this free and emancipated nation was founded shall never be denied access through blatant discrimination. (3) Memorial contributions honoring Commander Hardman can be mailed to: Commander Hardman Memorial, Alexander Hamilton Post #448, P.O. Box 314428, San Francisco, CA 94131. The American Federation of Veterans asks all who qualify to join Post #448, a unique and special beacon of international inspiration. This core of dedicated Americans radiate the light of hope and faith in a national organization not readily known to practice the "Golden Rule" when dealing with gay women and men in honorable and credible service to their country.
