Effron of Annandale, Virginia, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Mr. Effron, as minority Counsel for the Senate Armed Services Committee, may be another "witch-hunt" appointment whereby the heterosexual military community will continue to persecute gays and lesbians solely because of sexual orientation not loyalty, ability and/or performance. We call upon moderate Republican and Democratic leaders in Congress to monitor this matter and assure that this persecution based on sexual orientation not carry over into the judicial system for l5 long years. The alleged blessing of the Christian Coalition's Center for Law and Justice elevates a sense of suspicion for fair-minded and just Americans who live and abide by the "Golden Rule." We wish not to prejudge Mr. Effron but to be cautiously concerned as his position on the Rand Report has not been clearly addressed. ----------------------------------------------------------------
