Box 1281,Ft.Lauderdale, FL 33302 ***************************************************************** May 20, 1996 "We Are One" THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF VETERANS "An Alliance for Equality of Rights" U.S SUPREME COURT SOUNDS THE BELL FOR LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL It is with great pride and honor that the members and friends of the American Federation of Veterans (AmFedVets) extend deepest appreciation and thanks to ACLU, Lambda Legal Defense Fund, Ground Zero and a list of supportive organizations that contributed time, effort and resources in a common ground struggle that has afforded women and men in Colorado and across this great nation equality regardless of their sexual orientation. Today's 6-3 United States Supreme Court decision is historical. It is another mounted cornerstone in the struggle for equality during a time when there is a lack of human compassion and mutual respect. It is a restoration of credibility and faith in the American system of checks and balances. Karl Clark, national President of AmFedVets, noted that "For those still in prison, under investigation and tortured by the military witch-hunt their suffering and pain has seen some vindication this day. There is light at the end of the tunnel and we must never loose sight that there is hope as long as we have faith in who and what we are as proud Americans."
