German Lopez, President of the national organization: AFV, an alliance of human rights activists and veterans organizations throughout the United States, joined the Department of Veterans Affairs Volunteer Services Representatives at their 48th. National Convention. Other GLB and / or supportive veterans organizations, whose members are also personally and individually involved with a variety of VA outreach programs, attended the 5 day gala event. These friends and volunteers of the American Federation of Veterans spent much of their time networking with the other organizations and individuals wishing to learn more about the AFV movement of support and inclusion. On Sunday, October 23rd, The Reverend Grant Ford, Pastor of the Ft. Lauderdale Sunshine Cathedral, extended a welcoming hand to the vets at the congregation's "Coffee and Cake Friendship Hour" in the MCC membership's hall. The veterans were guests at the club caribbean Sunday afternoon. The Florida Gold Coast, and, the Daytona, Florida GLB Veteran organizations hosted a brunch and meeting at the garden restaurant, at which time Mr. Lopez officially announced the details of the AFV Feb 18th.
