Colt Supermodel Steve Kelso Does San Diego Raises $600 In 10 Minutes At Rodeo Appearance by Rex Wockner SAN DIEGO -- Colt Studio porn supermodel Steve Kelso swung through San Diego last week and signed photos, posters, magazines and calendars featuring his naked, hot, hairy bod, in appearances at Obelisk bookstore and an adult video shop. And he gave this brief interview to the Gay and Lesbian Times: Times: Everybody wants to know if you're married or single. Kelso: I'm still single, still single. No time. Times: Do you still work at a gay bar in New Jersey? Kelso: Yeah, a place called The Den. Times: You meet people there, don't you? Kelso: Yeah, but I've been there for like 16 years. Times: So you never see anybody new? Kelso: I do. I get a lot of out-of-towners that come in that know who I am and stuff. Times: Do you travel around much of the year? Kelso: Not all the time. Winter I usually take out to get fat and get drunk. (He laughs.) But come summertime, I have to start training and things like that, to go on the road. Now, this is a very big tour. Times: How many cities? Kelso: I don't know. There's more coming up. I'll be in Dallas, Washington, New York, and then up [the East Coast]. Times: This is the 1996 [Kelso] calendar tour? Kelso: Yeah. Times: What's the strangest thing that's happened so far in signing pictures? Kelso: Signing penises. (He raises his voice and gestures to the men standing around the Obelisk observing the interview.) But I'm always open to that. Anybody want to jump forward? That's fine. Times: How many have you signed? Kelso: Just one, in San Francisco. Times: You'll be at the Folsom Street Fair? Kelso: Yes. I'll sign photographs. Last year it was a benefit for Project Open Hand and Stop AIDS San Francisco, and I raised $3,000. Subhead: Rodeo Surprise The evening after his Obelisk appearance, Kelso made a surprise visit to the Mission Valley Marriott hotel for the gay rodeo's Boots & Briefs contest -- and auctioned off his T-shirt for $600. The bid went from $400 to $600 after Kelso unbuttoned his Levis 501s, revealing no underwear and about one inch of his world-famous penis. The money went to Special Delivery. When he left the stage, Kelso was swarmed by fans. He patiently signed the shirts they were wearing for about 45 minutes. Fans waiting in line at the Obelisk gushed over the man of their fantasies: John Baylin, 47, caterer: "I have only one question to ask Steve Kelso: Will you marry me?" Bruce Gowan, 37, computer consultant: "I think he's gorgeous and he's fun to look at. He's that ultimate man that everybody wants and nobody will get." "Tim," 41, engineer: "He's more of a regular, normal kind of guy [than other porn stars]." Steve Schenk, 36, accountant: "Just one look at his eyes and that's it." Mark Kelly, 34, neuropsychologist: "I'm here to get a calendar for my lover who thinks Steve Kelso is the hottest-looking man alive." Craig Stearman, 36, human resources: "Steve Kelso is the man of my dreams. He's the best-looking thing on earth and he's got a great smile and a great physique. He just puts a smile on my face." "Stephan", 28, psychologist: "I'm here to meet my fantasy man. Is that too cliche?" == end == WHERE TO FIND REX WOCKNER'S WORK Rex Wockner is a San Diego-based journalist.
