Beloit, WI (EGCM) Duane J. Boulware, founder of EDENITE (now Chest Men of America), died suddenly of an apparent heart attack June 6, 1993. Born July 26, 1931, he founded the international club known as EDENITE in 1980. Throughout the years 1980 to 1991, over eleven hundred men were members of the club, mostly residents of the U.S., but members also lived in 34 foreign countries during that period. In 1989, Mr. Bolware suffered a severe heart attack which left him with only 15% of his heart functioning. He continued to run the club, all the while looking for a suitable successor. In 1991, Mr. Boulware handed the leadership of the club to Robert M. Berglund, at which time the club's name was changed to Chest Men of America (CMA). Boulware assumed the role of President Emeritus, and continued to help the news publications, and helping with convention organizing activities. On August 17, 1992, Boulware was honored as the founder of the organization at the First Annual National Convention of Chest Men of America in Chicago, Illinois by all of the 54 attendees present. On his passing, CMA President Berglund said "Duane Boulware was the embodiment of the true chest man, in that he looked upon all men equally, emphasizing their strong points and ignoring their weak points. He was a true leader, and many unique men the world over will surely miss this gentleman, who was also my friend." A memorial service was held on June 12, 1993 at Bink Noll Park; Beloit College; Beloit, Wisconsin. The place of interment if St. John of the Baptist Church Cemetery in Belmont, Wisconsin.
