It was well-attended (mostly by g&L's) and, from that meeting, it was suggested that the Academy provide sensitivity training to their members (literally tens of thousands of physicians who are the front-line folks when anyone in the U.S. goes for medical care). In addition, the Academy voted to support non-discrimination of gays and Lesbians in Family Practice and by Family Practitioners. The AMA recently enacted a similiar policy, but this is the first group of specialists to do so. Please write to the Academy congratulating them on enacting a non-discrimination policy and encouraging them to indeed provide sensitivity training for Family Physician members. In other words, encourage their positive steps. Pertinent info.: President: William H. Coleman, M.D., Ph.D. Board Chair: Douglas E.
