FEEDBACK from RevMel@aol.com (Rev. Mel White & his partner, Gary Nixon) Saturday night, December 6, in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Mel White (UFMCC Justice Minister), received the ACLU's National Civil Liberties Award for his efforts to apply the 'soulforce' principles of Gandhi and King to the l/g/b/t struggle for justice. On Sunday, 14 December, Mel flys to Delhi, India, to begin a five week study tour with Arun Gandhi, the Mahatma's grandson. Mel will be meeting with leaders of the nonviolent justice movement and visiting historic sites associated with India's struggle for independence, as well as Gandhi ashrams, archives, & study centers. Mel and his partner, Gary Nixon, have just released their new Soulforce video, HOW CAN I BE SURE THAT GOD LOVES ME, TOO? This is Mel's response "...to those who misuse the Bible to make God's lesbian and gay children feel like outcasts." Videos can be ordered by sending a check made out to Video 2 for $10 each (to cover the costs of duplicating, packaging, and mailing) to Soulforce Videos, P.O. Box 4467, Laguna Beach, CA. 92652. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "We continue to lead the fight to end discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, age, ethnicity, disability, and sexual orientation. . . . We support continued efforts, like the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, to end discrimination against gay men and lesbians and further their full inclusion in the life of the nation." --excerpt, 1996 Democratic Party Platform ~~~~~~ Fred and Martin, 24 years, yet strangers before all but 16.7% of the law. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
