Bf. _____________________________________________________________ Dear Friends, I am happy to announce that Women's Educational Media, the award-winning makers of IT'S ELEMENTARY: Talking About Gay Issues In School and Deadly Deception are embarking on a new video entitled "My Family Is Special." We need your help finding the families who will be featured! Please join us and make this exciting new idea a reality. (No checkbooks required.) "My Family Is Special" will introduce children in kindergarten through third grade to a variety of family structures and provide positive images and vocabulary to help them better understand and appreciate our diverse communities. The twenty minute video, one of a three part series entitled "Respect For All," profiles children whose families are virtually invisible in most books and audio-visual productions, and gives names to some situations which peers, and often teachers, frequently feel confused or uncomfortable discussing in a neutral manner. The children in the videos will tell their own stories using the vocabulary of divorce, adoption, single parenting, gay dads and lesbian moms etc. This is where you come in. We need families to participate in "My Family Is Special." We need engaging, articulate, outgoing kids between the ages of 6-10 years old, of every race. Please Help Us Find Families In The Following Categories: x Children of divorced parents x Adopted children x Children being raised by a family member other than their mother or father (i.e. a grandparent, aunt, or uncle etc.) x Children with single parents (whose other biological parent is not involved) x Children with gay or lesbian parents Please send families our way! It has been more difficult to cast this film than you might imagine but the task will certainly be worth the value of the film. This is an important educational tool and we want to make it available as soon as possible. Please pass this email onto families who might be interested in becoming involved. Please contact me, Ariella Ben-Dov at Women's Educational Media (415) 641-4616 or email wemajbd@aol.com with any suggestions or questions. We would also be happy to send you extra flyers and call or write specific families directly. I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Ariella Ben-Dov Associate Producer Women's Educational Media (415) 641-4616 (415) 641-4632 fax
