The following shows air once this week as far as I know:

- MISERY LOVES COMPANY (CC). Rebroadcast Sat. 10/7/95,
11:30 pm, Fox. TV Guide says "Joe (Dennis Boutsikaris)
thinks his brother is unwittingly dating a transvestite."
I saw a clip for this show last week, and it looked like
it should come with a transphobia alert.....

pm, on WPHL ch. 17. Sally Field and Kevin Kline star in a
parody of tv soap operas. One of the many villians is

- ORLANDO (CC). Airs Tues. 10/10/95, 1:00pm, Showtime

- POSITIVE HEALTH. Airs in Phila. PA on Tues. 10/10/95,

people with AIDS and HIV disease.

- PASSION TO PLAY. Airs Tues. 10/10/95, 10:30 pm, ESPN-2.
TV Guide says: "Sportswomen profiled include tennis
greats Martina Navratilova and Billie Jean King; race car
driver Janet Guthrie; figure skater Peggy Fleming; track
star Jackie Joyner Kersee."

- LAKE CONSEQUENCE (CC). Airs Tues.-Wed., 10/10-11/95,
12:10 am, The Movie Channel. TV Guide says "Sexual
situations, strong language. Menage a trois with a
troubled housewife, a msyterious gardener and his
girlfriend."

- AILEEN WUORNOS: THE SELLING OF A SERIAL KILLER. Airs
Wed. 10/11/95, 8:00 pm, on Cinemax. Documentary about the
serial killer, who is supposed to have had a woman lover.
Unknown if the same-sex relationship will be addressed.

- ARTHUR ASHE (CC). Airs Thurs. 10/12/95, 1:00 pm, HBO.
Documentary about the tennis star. Probably includes his
death from AIDS and his education efforts about the
disease.

- THE CREW (CC). Airs Thurs. 10/12/95, 8:30 pm, Fox.
According to TV Guide, gay character Paul "fears he's
going bald" this week. Note: Several readers have
written to comment that Paul's gayness is addressed
positively and well in nearly every episode.

*********************************************************

In the "ALL ISMS ARE RELATED" category, check out these
non-gay, diversity-related tv shows:

- FAMILY MATTERS (CC). Airs Tues. 10/10/95, 7:30 pm, on
WPIX national cable ch. 11. TV Guide says "Laura dons a
mustache and men's clothing to haggle with a sexist used-
car dealer (Stuart Pankin) over the price of a car."

- ALIEN NATION: BODY AND SOUL. Airs Tues. 10/10/95, 8:00
pm, Fox. A new Alien Nation movie. I haven't seen this
one, but if it's like the series on which it is based, it
is very likely to address racism and xenophobia, and to do
so very well. The series examined conflict between native
Earthers and "Newcomers", who were escaped slaves from
another planet. It addressed racism (& the ability of
thinking people to combat it) on a regular basis, without
ever getting preachy.

- 20TH CENTURY. Airs Wed. 10/11/95, 10:00 pm, Arts &
Entertainment cable. Subject is "chronicling racial
violence." (TV Guide)

- TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. Airs Fri.-Sat., 10/13-14/95,
12:30 am, Disney cable. Excellent movie about a black man
who is wrongly accused of raping a white woman in 1930s
Alabama, and the lawyer (Gregory Peck) who defends him.

Hi, folks! This is note #5 (of 5) of the list of tv shows

A few notes this week:

1. Check out the 10/7-13/95 TV Guide. In an article on
Star Trek (pgs. 10 and 21), TVG discusses a Star Trek:
Deep Space Nine episode that will feature a same-sex
relationship. They say that Trill Jadzia Dax (Terry
Farrell) "will have a romance with another female Trill,
Lenara (guest star Susanna Thompson). No, it's not a
lesbian storyline, technically." TVG goes on to explain
that the two Trills knew each other in a prior,
heterosexual, relationship.
According to the article, this episode will involve a
same-sex kiss. Unfortunately, the article also made a big
deal about how "difficult" Ms. Farrell thought it was to
do this show. They quote her as saying that the kiss "was
difficult because I do not find myself attracted to my own
sex. I had to get past that, because the story was
important enough ... [but] it *was* uncomfortable."

2. On pg. 42, TV Guide reiterates an already-reported
story Leon (Martin Mull) will marry another man later this
season on ROSEANNE.

3. Several readers have written to comment on the new
series MURDER ONE. The lead lawyer (played by Daniel
Benzali) has a male assistant/office manager who is widely
believed to be gay (and somewhat stereotypical).
To my knowledge, they haven't addressed his personal
life yet, but some folks may want to monitor this series.
This week, MURDER ONE moves to Thursdays at 10:00 on ABC,
(opposite ER).
