One of my all-time favorite films. Barbra Streisand plays a young Jewish woman in turn of the century eastern Europe who pretends to be a man so that she can study the Talmud. The plot gets even more interesting when she winds up marrying a woman played by Amy Irving. Fantastic score. >> MIRROR IMAGE. Airs Mon-Tues., 4/24-25/95, 4:30 am, Prism. I've never seen or heard of this movie, but TV Guide says: "(1991) R: Violence, sexual situations, strong language. Psychosaga about a woman (Margaux Hemingway) whose unrequited obsession for her college roommate (Maryam D'Abo) drives her to acts of violence." >> THE CHILDREN'S HOUR (CC). Airs Tues. 4/25/95, 1:40 pm, The Movie Channel. 1962 adaptation of the Lillian Hellman play. A student falsely claims that two women school teachers are a lesbian couple. As a result, the town turns against them and their lives are ruined. Warning: This movie has an extremely upsetting & homophobic ending. >> A DIFFERENT STORY. Airs Wed. 4/26/95, 6:30 am (NOT pm), Cinemax. Very strange movie about a relationship between a gay man and a lesbian woman. >> ROSEANNE (CC). Airs Wed. 4/26/95, 7:00 pm, Phila. PA WGBS ch. 57.
