One last, sad note: My deepest sympathies go out to the friends and family of the late Scott Amedure, 32, of Orion Township, Michigan. Mr. Amedure was murdered yesterday in what appears to have been an anti-gay hate crime. According to an article in the 3/10/95 issue of the Philadelphia Daily News (page 3), Mr. Amedure appeared as a guest on a segment of the JENNY JONES show that was taped for Monday 3/13. The subject was "men who have crushes on other men." During the segment, he revealed that he had a secret crush on a friend of his, John Schmitz, who was also a guest of the show. According to the article, Schmitz was upset and "embarrassed" by the show. So much so that he allegedly shot Scott Amedure twice and killed him. He later turned himself in to police, and is now in jail.
