>> MELROSE PLACE (CC). Airs Mon. 2/6/95, 8:00 pm, Fox.
TV Guide says gay character Matt is featured. ["Matt's
detective friend (Tom Schanley) speaks to Kimberly."]

>> SERVING IN SILENCE: THE MARGARETHE CAMMERMEYER STORY
(CC). Airs Mon. 2/6/95, 9:00 pm, NBC. This is definitely
THE pick of the week, folks! TV Guide says: "The civil
rights of homosexuals in the military is the subject of
this thoughtful, tastefully presented 1995 tv-movie, a
fact-based drama. Glenn Close cuts a quietly commanding
figure in the title role, as a respected and decorated
Army colonel and nurse who's also a divorcee, mother of
four sons and a lesbian. At the onset of a relationship
with an L.A. artist (Judy Davis) in 1989, Col. Cammermeyer
comes out of the closet - plunging her personal life into
turmoil and jeopardizing her military career."
Note: For anyone who's been on another planet lately,
Cammermeyer is the highest-ranking officer ever kicked out
of the US military for being a lesbian. Barbra Streisand &
Close co-produced this show, which has recieved much
advance publicity & praise. Also check out the numerous
articles about it:  2/4/95 TV Guide pp. 30-32 & p. 43;
2/6/95 People p. 15; 2/6/95 Time p. 70; 2/3/95
Entertainment Weekly pp 40-41.

>> THIS MORNING (CC). Airs Tues. 2/7/95, 7:00 am, CBS.
Whoopi Goldberg is scheduled to appear to discuss her role
as a lesbian in the new movie BOYS ON THE SIDE. (It's a
great movie, BTW.)

>> THE CHILDREN'S HOUR (CC). Airs Tues. 2/7/95, 11:00 am,
Showtime cable. (Note: I think that this is the first
time I've ever seen this movie listed as being closed-
captioned.) This is the faithful 1960s adaptation of
Lillian Hellman's play about two teachers whose lives are
ruined when a student lies & tells the town that they're
lovers. The ending is terribly depressing & homophobic.

>> TOM SNYDER (CC). Airs Tues-Wed., 2/7-8/95, 12:35 am,
CBS. Whoopi guests on this show, also.

>> MUSCLE (CC). Airs Wed. 2/8/95, 9:30 pm, Warner
Brothers network. I've mentioned in the past that this
show has a recurring lesbian character who's a tv news
broadcaster. A reader correctly noted that I should also
have pointed out that the show is sleazy & offensive.

>> DREAM ON (CC). Airs Wed. 2/8/95, 10:00 pm, HBO. TV
Guide says: "At a high-school reunion, Martin runs into a
woman (Kim Cattrall) on whom he had a big crush, and is
crushed to learn that she thought he was gay."

notes #1 - #3 also. Happy viewing.

By the way, some folks might like a picture that's on p. 6
of the 2/6/95 issue of PEOPLE magazine. It has Julie
Andrews in drag as Victor, next to RuPaul in drag as a
"supermodel".
