The following shows air once this week as far as I know:

>> SWEET AS YOU ARE. Airs Sat. 10/22/94, 7:00 am, Prism.
TV Guide says: "A teacher (Liam Neeson) jeopardizes his
marriage - and his life - when he has an affair with a
student who's carrying the AIDS virus."

>> HEARTS AFIRE (CC). Airs Sat. 10/22/94, 9:30 pm, CBS.
TV Guide says: "Madeline (Conchata Ferrell) wants to have
a baby, whether there's a man in her life or not.
Meanwhile, Billy Bob won't accept that an old buddy from
D.C. is gay."

>> ROPE. Airs Sun. 10/23/94, 11:00 am, Arts &
Entertainment. TV Guide says: "(1948) Hitchcock with a
taut twist - it's shot in 10 minute takes and set entirely
at a cocktail party where a professor (James Stewart) is
served up a string of clues to a murder commmitted by two
ex-students (John Dall, Farley Granger)." What TV Guide
doesn't say, but which other readers of this column have
told me, is that the two men are roommates and are
portrayed as a gay couple (although this is apparently not
discussed overtly).

>> TOOTSIE. Airs Sun. 10/23/94, 4:00 pm, Phila. PA WPHL
ch. 17. Dustin Hoffman as an out-of-work actor who cross-
dresses and pretends to be an actress to get a part in a
television soap opera. When he falls in love with a
female co-star on the soap, she thinks that "Tootsie" is a
lesbian.

>> THE KRAYS. Airs Mon 10/24/94, 9:00 pm, The Movie
Channel. Exceedingly violent but fact-based story of two
twin brothers who ran a London crime syndicate in the
1960s. One of them was gay.

>> POSITIVE (+) HEALTH. Airs in Phila. PA area on Tues.
10/25/94, 8:00 pm, on WYBE ch. 35. By and for People with
AIDS and people who are HIV-positive. Topic unknown.

>> INDEPENDENT IMAGES. A 1 hour group of short films will
air in Philadelphia PA on Tues. 10/25/94, beginning at
11:00 pm, on WHYY ch. 12. One of the scheduled films is
"Positive Faith: Christians with HIV." WHYY's program
guide, APPLAUSE, says that this 30 minute short will start
at approximately 11:15, and that it "follows the lives of
three Christians and their spiritual issues and dealing
with their HIV status."

>> THE CHILDREN'S HOUR (CC). Airs Wed. 10/16/94, 9:00 am,
Cinemax. Extremely depressing 1962 movie based on Lillian
Hellman's play. A young schoolgirl lies and tells a whole
town that her two female teachers (played by Audrey
Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine) are a lesbian couple. The
town shuns the women, and their lives are destroyed. One
of the women really is a lesbian, and she hangs herself in
shame. You've been warned.

>> ROSEANNE (CC). Airs Wed. (NOT Tues!), 10/26/94, 9:00
pm, ABC. No question about it, folks: this is the pick
of the week! TV Guide says "On Roseanne's prank-filled
Halloween episode, Leon throws a fabulous Halloween party
that's 'in full swish' when Roseanne and Dan arrive. And
the Conners soon learn that Fred is the hot party topic."
Elsewhere, TV Guide says "Leon (Martin Mull) outdoes
himself hosting a Halloween soiree with the Lunch Box clan
and a bevy of his gay friends, many of whom seem to know
Fred - intimately."

>> CHEERS (CC). Airs Wed. 10/26/94, 11:00 pm, on Phila.
PA WTXF ch. 29 (and possibly in other syndicated rerun
areas as well). TV Guide says "Seeking to avoid the
inevitable razzing, Norm hides the fact that he's become
an interior decorator from the gang."

>> M. BUTTERFLY (CC). Airs Fri. 10/28/94, 8:00 pm,
Cinemax. TV Guide says: "David Cronenberg ("The Fly")
showed uncharacteristic restraint in his direction of this
well-acted 1993 adaptation of the Tony-winning play by
David Henry Hwang, inspired by a true story. In 1964
Beijing, Rene Gallimard (Jeremy Irons), a low-level French
diplomat, attends the opera 'Madama Butterfly' and becomes
obsessed with one of the performers, Song Liling (John
Lone). Gallimard begins a strange, passionate affair with
Liling, unaware that she is actually a he. And that's not
the only secret the diva is hiding from the gullible
diplomat. Rated R for sexual situations and violence."

>> PICKET FENCES (CC). Airs Fri. 10/28/94, 10:00 pm, CBS.
No gay content is specifically indicated for this show,
but it may be of special interest to many lesbian readers.
The TV Guide says "A social worker takes a young girl from
her mother, who practices witchcraft."
