Part of the show features some of the plaintiff couples in the Hawaii same-gender marriage lawsuit (the Baehr case). Please consult local listings to confirm this broadcast. After a relatively quiet legislative session, with no action on marriage or DP, marriage proponents in Hawaii await the final disposition of the Baehr case by Hawaii's Supreme Court. The court has not hinted at any action, but has cleared its docket substantially---it is now down to 12 cases which are at least three years old. Canada's Supreme Court is moving Canada toward putting same-gender couples on par with heterosexual couples in regards to civil rights. King Kamehameha was the first ruler to unite the Hawaiian islands, shortly after the first modern European contact (and using guns).
