Sept. 28th: Coming out to Parents on "Oprah"
     PFLAGers may want to check out the September 28th (check your local
listings) episode of "Oprah" which is scheduled to focus on coming out to
parents, featuring Chastity Bono and her mother Cher.  Chastity Bono has just
written a book called "Family Outing" about her own experience of coming out
as a lesbian.  "Family Outing" (Little, Brown) also contains the stories of
many PFLAG families and their journeys to love and acceptance of their
children.
     The show's producer, who has been in touch with the wonderful PFLAG folks
in the Chicago/Lakeview area and elsewhere, has agreed to provide the phone
number and website address for PFLAG as a resource for its viewers. This
should be a great way for us to get our message out there!  Chapters may want
to be prepared for additional calls generated by this publicity.
