Magge Heineman here, The lead story is about the Campaign for Equal Rights at Chrysler. Yours truly created the website for the Chrysler Campaign and I've been remiss in not updating it -- it's been four months now since the November 14 National Day of Protest which forced Chrysler to give lipservice -- for the first time ever they used the words "sexual orientation" in a company document. There are various efforts to push Chrysler -- Ron Woods continues his five year campaign. The gay/lesbian/employees network, People of Diversity, is trying to work within the system. I'm not going to give you the source of this email, so consider it hearsay, but this is what I'm hearing: >Mon, 17 Mar 1997 18:57:51 -0600 > >Maggie, there has been no change at Chrysler, the Standard >of Conduct has never been posted in any of the plants as of >this date. Diversity training has not been announced. In >fact the Diversity Officer was James P. Holden, it is now >Stallkamp. They announced it in the Chrysler times, they said >effective January 1, but when "in the life", was in town in >March, they said Holden was still the Diversity Officer. [snip] >Hopefully with the >spotlight on them from the , "Campaign for Equal Rights at Chrysler, >they will move on some of these issues. Otherwise, I feel >they are going to get some more bad press on the national front. >The radio ran a piece last Monday night informing people to >watch In the Life, on March30. > So, watch for "In the Life." I have promised that I will work on the Chrysler Campaign Website this Wednesday and get it updated.
