SEGMENT #3 - LGBT visibility in the U.S. political process was raised to a
new level with the historic presidential candidate forum hosted by the Human
Rights Campaign and televised live by the LOGO cable television channel. The
2-hour event featured individual appearances by six Democratic contenders for
the White House. In the first two parts of This Way Out's coverage of the
forum, we’ve excerpted the remarks of New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and
Senators Mike Gravel, John Edwards, and Barack Obama. There are two more
candidates to be heard from: he's considered a long shot for his party's nomination,
but Ohio Congressman DENNIS KUCINICH would be a sure bet for LGBT rights.
HILLARY CLINTON is by most accounts at the front of the Democratic pack. They each
