Several weeks ago a gay teen named ZACH posted his "scream" online as he was being packed off to a "reparative therapy" camp. A network of bloggers and activists took notice, and all hell broke loose against the heaven-bent Christian fundamentalists who vowed they could "heterosexualize" him. What could have passed anonymously as one more sad coming-out story became the darling of newsmagazines and Good Morning America, with even "moral crusader" Jerry Falwell weighing in. This Way Out's JERRY TROWBRIDGE, who's been following Zach's story, updates the convoluted tale, and probes "conversion therapy" claims with an "experts roundtable": activist/writer WAYNE BESEN ("Anything But Straight"), attempted "ex gay" and now "queer theatrical performance activist" PETERSON TOSCANO ("Doin' Time in The Homo No Mo Halfway House") and psychotherapist and author JOSHUA ESTRIN ("Shut Up and Listen to Yourself") (with brief intro music from "Save Our Children/Recruiter's Fight Song" by TOM WILSON-WEINBERG) [8:40] + "TWO" I.D., introduced by an excerpt from his "Glad To Be Gay", by iconic queer British rocker TOM ROBINSON [:30] . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 9:10 SEGMENT #3 - A gender turnabout band (excerpts from "Sasparilla" and "Women's Prison" from THE JANE WAYNES CD "Cowboy Songs"), a black solo muse ("How To Tell If Your Man Is On The Down Low" and "Secret Lover" from ANTHONY ANTOINE's "Closets On Fire"), and a bluesy-folky-rocky kinda guy ("White Horse" and "Have Me" from ERIC HIMAN's "Dark Horse) explain their musical "takes" in this latest entry from the "AUDIOFILE" (hosted by CHRIS WILSON & JD DOYLE, and written & produced with CHRISTOPHER DAVID TRENTHAM/ www.audiofile.org) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6:45 = artist contact info = THE JANE WAYNES ANTHONY ANTOINE ERIC HIMAN Tucker Doherty www.anthonyantoine.com c/o Thumbcrown Records 348 Harbord St. (no other info submitted) 157 Morrison Dr. Toronto, Ontario M6G 1H4 Pittsburgh, PA 15216 Canada eric@thumbcrown.com tucker@thejanewaynes.com www.erichiman.com www.thejanewaynes.com Closing Credits/continuity . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1:40 TOTAL PROGRAM TIME . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 28:50 ===================================== * =============================== STATION PROMO COPY: ANNCR: NEXT TIME ON "THIS WAY OUT", ZACH'S TRAUMA TRIGGERS QUESTIONS ABOUT "CONVERSION" CLAIMS, AND "COWBOY SONGS" ON A "DARK HORSE" SET "CLOSETS ON FIRE" IN THE "AUDIOFILE"... IN THE NEWS, LATVIANS MARCH FOR PRIDE AGAINST THE TIDE, BELFAST QUEERS GET A GREEN LIGHT BUT MOSCOW AND SINGAPORE OFFICIALS ERECT PRIDE ROADBLOCKS, SOME NEW ZEALAND LAWMAKERS ARE STILL MARRIAGE-INEQUALITY-MINDED, AND RIGHTS OPPONENTS FORCE ANOTHER VOTE IN MAINE.
