to children of legally-married lesbian & gay couples if both parents insist on 
being acknowledged, while the provinces of Alberta, Manitoba & Saskatchewan 
grapple with the pending federal marriage equality legislation;  a left-wing 
opposition party in Greece comes out against all forms of discrimination against 
gays & lesbians and in support of marriage equity;  misdemeanor charges of 
illegally "solemnizing" the marriages of lesbian & gay couples last year are 
dropped against New Paltz, New York Mayor Jason West, while the state legislature 
approves a "death care proxy" bill allowing New Yorkers to specify whomever 
they choose to dispose of their remains;  Hawai'i Governor Linda Lingle vetoes a 
jobs anti-discrimination bill but lets a bill banning bias in housing take 
effect without her signature, while Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich signs 
queer-inclusive hate crimes bills banning housing discrimination and electronic 
communication harassment;  last week's United Church of Christ marriage equality 
resolution appears to have sparked a hate attack against one its churches in 
Virginia, while Kenya's National Council of Churches debates refusing 
financial aid from the UCC's charitable arm;  Pride is observed in Budapest, Caracas
