SEGMENT #1 -  "NewsWrap": In the same remarkable week the parliaments of both 
Canada and Spain approve full legal civil marriage equality for same gender 
couples, joining the Netherlands and Belgium as the world's "fantastic four", 
while the Vatican denounces the moves as "violent and direct attacks against 
the family";  Pride is celebrated with colorful marches and demonstrations in 
cities around the world, including Toronto, Madrid, Paris, Berlin, Athens, 
Nijmegen (the Netherlands), Dublin, Lisbon, Mexico City, San Salvador, La Paz, Rio 
de Janeiro, Calcutta, New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Austin, Lansing 
(Michigan), Atlanta, Honolulu, Portland (Oregon), Columbus (Ohio) and Conway 
(Arkansas), but an Orthodox Jewish extremist knifes three during Jerusalem's 
contested march;  and a mummy unwrapped reveals secret Sapphic verses  (written

SEGMENT #2 -  Hundreds of thousands of people waving rainbow flags danced in 
the sun through the streets of Madrid on July 2nd behind a banner that read, 
"We Go Forward, Now For Transsexuals".  It was Spain's largest-ever annual 
queer pride parade, celebrating this week's parliamentary vote for marriage 
equality, which officially takes effect on July 3rd.  However, due to the 
bureaucracy involved, activists don't expect the first marriage to take place for 
several weeks.
Meanwhile, June 28th, 2005 will be remembered by CANADIAN gays and lesbians 
-- the day when their parliament passed ground-breaking legislation to legalize 
same gender marriage across the country there.  The vote was 158-133.  Eleven 
courts in nine provinces and territories had already legalized marriage 
equality in their respective regions, and public opinion polls now show a majority 
of Canadians approve.  This Way Out correspondent HEATHER KITCHING 
(CITR-FM/Vancouver's "Queer FM") captures the historic moments from three perspectives: 
with the patrons of a queer bar in downtown Vancouver, B.C., a gay activist in 
conservative Calgary, Alberta, and a leading marriage equality lawyer at the 
parliament buildings in Ottawa, Ontario; includes comments by Vancouver drag 
queen JOAN E, Little Sisters' Book Store Manager JANINE FULLER, Egale Canada's 
Alberta board rep STEPHEN LOCK, and the attorney from the original Ontario 
provincial marriage lawsuit, MARTHA McCARTHY, with internal music from "Daughter
