Olympia earned its indy music bragging rights in the 1980s and 90s when such homegrown record labels as K, Kill Rock Stars, Chainsaw, and YoYo promoted queer rock bands like Team Dresch and The Need. Then came Olympia's historic International Pop Underground Convention, the independently produced, post-apocalyptic, transgender sci-fi punk rock opera "The Transfused," the first Ladyfest, and the very first Homo a GoGo in 2002.
