A BRITISH COLUMBIA Supreme Court judge ruled in late December that KIMBERLY NIXON did not have the right to be a counsellor at a women-only rape crisis centre -- even though she herself is a survivor of male violence. The decision overturned an earlier landmark ruling in Nixon's favor by the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal. Since then an appeal has been launched, and feminist and gay rights organizations have expressed interest in joining the case.
