Since common law couples have virtually identical rights to married couples in most parts of Canada, the right of marriage itself is one of the last remaining battlegrounds. The campaign really took off in mid-May when an activist attorney and his partner applied for a marriage license in Toronto; other lesbian and gay couples have filed for licenses in New Brunswick. The latest development in the saga comes from BRITISH COLUMBIA, where the provincial government has become the first in the country to join in. With production assistance by TATHRE STREET, this report by This Way Out's HEATHER KITCHING includes comments by B.C. Attorney General ANDREW PETTER, 2 couples at the center of the current legal action there, CYNTHIA CALLAGHAN & JUDY LIGHTWATER and MURRAY WARREN & PETER COOK, and the latter couple's attorney BARBARA FINDLEY (outro music from "Crazy World" by MICHAEL CALLEN) [9:00]. . . . . . . . . . . . 9:15 SEGMENT #3 - "TWO" I.D. by openly-gay comedian/writer/"Hollywood Square" Bruce Vilanch [:15] + There are no "Maybe"s (excerpts from "Perfect" and the title cut by JEFF KRASNER) about the passionate "Places" ("The Mayor of Dullsville" and "Biff and Tony's Wedding" from his new CD by DAVE HALL) and sometimes "Circumstances Strange" ("Masochist" and the title cut by AMY SIMPSON) explored by LGBT musicians these days -- as CHRIS WILSON and PAM MARSHALL (with production by CHRISTOPHER DAVID TRENTHAM) demonstrate with some words and new music from these 3 artists in this month's edition of "AudioFile" [6:25]. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 6:40 artist contact information: Amy Simpson Ms. Ter Records 41 Coleridge St. San Francisco, CA 94110 amysimpson.spinrecords.com Dave Hall Giuseppe Joe Records 41 Schermerhorn St. #279 Brooklyn, N.Y. 11201 giuseppejoe.com 888-844-9308 Jeff Krassner 340 E. 66th St. 2A New York, N.Y. 10021 identityid@aol.com Closing Continuity/Credits. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1:30 TOTAL PROGRAM TIME. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 29:00 ----------------------------Please note-------------------------------- Anyone with questions, suggestions, or *news stories* is encouraged to email "TWO" Coordinating Producer Greg Gordon at TWOradio@aol.co ----------------------------- thanks! --------------------------------- STATION PROMO COPY: ANNCR: NEXT TIME ON "THIS WAY OUT", A VARIETY OF WORDS AND NEW QUEER MUSIC FROM JEFF KRASSNER, DAVE HALL AND AMY SIMPSON, AND BRITISH COLUMBIA'S ATTORNEY GENERAL POPS THE MARRIAGE RIGHTS QUESTION...
